Connie's Trunks gives tired old trunks new life from the beautiful shores of Sebago Lake, Maine.

Antique Trunk #432 - Beautiful 1880s Metal Dome Top Trunk with Eagle Lock and Divided Tray

The beautiful pewter look of the metal along with deep wood tone makes this an exceptional piece of history. The embossed metal design is identified as "Mesh and Squares." Dome top trunks were made for the wealthier traveler and were designed to always end up on the top of the trunk pile for safekeeping. Originally, this beauty was painted red.

This trunk would look great in a traditional home as well as a home with the popular industrial décor. Itís a charming trunk with a ton of versatility.

The contoured and straight oak slats are in great shape. The curved hardwood slats were steamed, formed, and dried to follow the contour of the dome top. The ends are secured with awesome original detailed hardware.

The Eagle lock does not have a key, but since it lays flat it looks great. The lock faceplate adds to the quality of the trunk.

The outside and inside have several coats of satin Polyurethane for protection and then hand rubbed for added beauty.

Since the tray originally had a cardboard bottom, we replaced it with wood.

This trunk measures 30 inches wide, 17 inches front to back, and is approximately 20 inches tall at the highest point.

The bottom has built-in rollers to help with mobility empty, or full.

The replacement leather handles are from brettunsvillage.com. Handle end caps are original.

Price includes insurance, packaging, and shipping to any of the 48 contiguous states.
