Connie's Trunks gives tired old trunks new life from the beautiful shores of Sebago Lake, Maine.

Antique Trunk #465 -Beautiful Metal Embossed Dome Top Trunk with divided Tray

The beautiful pewter look of the metal along with warm wood tone makes this an exceptional piece of history. The great detail of the embossed metal design is identified as "Scroll." It's hard to imagine why people painted these beautiful trunks, but they did. The craftsmanship makes this a real treasure. The lock does not work but it does lay nice and flat.

All the hardware is original.

  1. Since dome top trunks were made for the wealthier traveler and were designed to always end up on the top of the trunk pile for safekeeping, it weathered the travel well.

  2. The four curved slats were steamed, formed, and dried to follow the contour of the dome top. Note the highest point is the center of the curved top.

  3. The detail of the metal pattern is really stunning. What a great addition to any home.

  4. The outside and inside have several coats of satin Polyurethane for protection and then hand rubbed for added beauty.

  5. It measures 34.5 inches wide, 19.5 inches front to back and approx. 25 inches tall at the highest point.

  6. The divided tray is original and a great place to store smaller items. The boxed section of the tray was originally for hats.

  7. The bottom has built-in rollers to help move it around empty, or full.

  8. The replacement leather handles are from brettunsvillage.com.

  9. The price includes packaging and shipping and insurance to any of the 48 contiguous states. If you are west of the Mississippi, please add $50 to the cost.

Price: $695
