Antique Trunk #468 - Rare, Well-built Trunk with Two Trays, Eagle Lock & Key and Roller Corners

What a gorgeous, rugged trunk! This would be a perfect candidate for a military showcase (see our customer gallery for ideas). All the hardware is original and in excellent condition. The wood has a deep rich color with numerous knots . . . just beautiful. What a beautiful piece of history!

  1. The top has a slight curve offering a nice useable display surface.
  2. The decorative protective hardware did a great job protecting this beauty during rough travel.
  3. The corner hardware includes rollers that were designed to roll and take the hit for protection. The bottom corner hardware not only includes rollers, it also has bottom rollers to help with mobility. They are etched PAT APRIL 5 98, which is 1898.
  4. The beautiful guides located on each side of the lock help to keep the top lined up during travel.
  5. The waffle design hasps include built-in lifts helping to raise the lid.
  6. The edges are protected with metal trim, plus 12 horseshoe-designed edge protective hardware . . . the most I have ever seen on a single trunk (awesome)!
  7. The Eagle lock works and comes with a key.
  8. Wrap-around corner hardware is also in great shape.
  9. Notice the elongated slat hardware, which is very unique.
  10. Built- in metal straps pass under the hardwood slats, adding to the overall stability.
  11. Replacement leather handles are from

  1. The two trays are beautiful. The very deep divided tray is all original. The lower tray originally had a cloth bottom, so we replaced it with wood making it more useful. These trays offer great storage or display options for a military showcase.
  2. The inside has rivets, which is a sign of a quality built trunk.
  3. We replaced the missing lid stay, which keeps the top secure when open.
