Connie's Trunks gives tired old trunks new life from the beautiful shores of Sebago Lake, Maine.

Antique Trunk #481 - 1880s Medium-Size NEVERBREAK Trunk With Dark Leatherette Trim and Deep Cedar-Lined Tray

Since the top has wide oak slats and is pretty flat, this trunk offers a nice display surface. When we started this beauty, we didn't realize that it was totally lined with a thick cardboard both inside and outside. After hours of removing the outer covering plus cardboard, we were pleased to find this awesome wood. The warm wood tone, dark trim, and softness of the hardware offer a stunning contrast.

  1. The black leatherette trim is in remarkable condition for its age. Goldsmith L & Sons of Newark, New Jersey manufactured these high-end durable trunks called Neverbreak.

  2. The lock is also etched NEVERBREAK TRUNK.

  3. The lock works great and comes with a key.

  4. All the hardware is original, including the fancy edge protector hardware (both top and bottom).

  5. The hasps include built-in lifts which help when lifting the top to open.

  6. The outside has several coats of satin poly for protection, and then has been hand rubbed for added beauty. The finish is durable and waterproof so it's safe to enjoy while the surface remains very soft to the touch.

  7. The dark replacement handles are from The handle hardware is original.

  1. Since the bottom of the tray was damaged, we replaced it with a cedar to add to its overall charm.

  2. The inside has several coats of polyurethane so it's ready to be a great storage area.

The trunk measurers 34.5 inches wide, 21.5 inches front to back, and 23.5 inches tall.
