Awesome 1880s Medium Size Steamer Trunk with Leather Straps, Leatherette Trim, and Original Hardware

This is another great looking trunk. It’s very unusual to find a trunk this clean!

The warm wood tone is a nice contrast with the pristine leatherette trim. Features like wood tone, trim and the character of the wood help to make each trunk different from the next. This trunk is a real beauty.

Outside

1. The flat top offers a functional display surface.
2. All the hardware is original and in great condition.
3. The large hasps include built-in lifts which help when opening the trunk.
4. The lock works great and comes with a key. It is etched “EAGLE LOCK CO TERRYVILLE CONN USA.”
5. The edges (top, bottom, and sides) are protected from getting damaged during rough travel.
6. he front and rear corners are protected with wraparound hardware.
7. The replacement leather straps and handles are from brettunsvillage.com, while the handle hardware is original.
8. All the leather tabs are original and in great condition.
9. The corners and end of the hardwood slats are protected with beautiful, cupped corner hardware.
10. The leatherette is in remarkable condition. The red decorative lines are still visible which is very unusual for a trunk of its age (1880s).
11. The hardwood slats are in great condition.
12. The guides, located on each side of the lock, help to keep the top and bottom portion securely closed during travel.

The outside has several coats of satin poly for protection and hand rubbed for added beauty. The finish is durable and waterproof so it’s safe to enjoy while the surface remains very soft to the touch.

Inside

1. The Inside finish is protected with satin polyurethane then waxed and hand rubbed so it’s ready to use for storage.

This trunk measures 34.5 inches wide, 20.5 inches front to back, and approximately 23 inches tall (measurements include hardware).
