Beautiful, Well-Built Smaller Flat Top Cabin Trunk with All Original Hardware and Working Lock & Key

Here’s another beautiful cabin trunk! They were called cabin trunks because of their versatility. Passengers were able to travel keeping their trunk in their cabin versus a designated trunk storage area. Remember, trunks were popular before the introduction of suitcases. The abundance of beautiful protective hardware is in great condition.

Outside

1. The top has a very, very slight curve so it can be considered a useable flat top.
2. The six darker hardwood slats are in great condition.
3. The lock works great and comes with a key. It is etched “THE JF PARKHURST 7 SON BANGOR ME PAT ‘D JUNE 13 82 and DEC 6 92.”
4. The corner hardware includes rollers so if the trunk got tossed the corners would be protected. The etching is a little worn due to age and travel, but it looks like “PAT APR 3 93.”
5. The heavy-duty wraparound corner hardware did a great job protecting the corners and edge during travel.
6. The top front and bottom and top rear edges are protected with scalloped protective hardware. The rear edge is also protected with the help of the three large hinges.
7. The waffle designed hasps are in great condition.
8. The fancy guides located on each side of the lock help keep the top and bottom secure while in travel.
9. The leather handles and handle hardware are original.

Inside

1. The inside offers a great storage area.

General Information

The inside and outside are finished with a Tung Oil mixture, satin polyurethane, waxed, and then buffed for added beauty. The finish is waterproof and durable, so it’s ready to enjoy.

This trunk measures 32 inches wide, 19.5 inches front to back, and 13.25 inches tall.
