Antique Trunk #671

Beautiful, Flat Top Trunk with Leatherette Trim, Leather Straps, and Working Lock & Key

This trunk has it all: beauty, function, and original hardware. The contrast between the light wood tone, numerous knots, the leatherette, and stunning hardware makes this an exceptional piece of 1880s history.

This trunk is very similar to our trunk #669, which sold only a few days after we listed it. This trunk is simply beautiful and very well-built. Someone took wonderful care of it over the years.

Outside

  1. All the hardware is original.
  2. The hasps include built-in lifts, which help to raise the lid when opening the trunk.
  3. The leather strap guides are original and in great condition.
  4. The large guides located on each side of the lock help to keep the top and body of the trunk secure during travel.
  5. The corner hardware has the appearance of being double layer protection (just beautiful).
  6. The lock is etched “H.E. & L. Works HARRISON N.J.” The lock works great and comes with a key.
  7. The neutral color, leatherette trim is amazing for its age. It’s attached with nails with rounded nail heads.
  8. The leather replacement straps and handles are from brettunsvillage.com while the handle hardware is original.
  9. The bottom corner hardware includes bottom rollers which help with mobility when the trunk is empty or full.
  10. The flat top offers a great display surface.
  11. The top front edge includes edge protection hardware.
  12. The top is secured with three large, rear hinges.

Inside

  1. The inside offers a great storage area.
