Antique Trunk #727

Beautiful 1890s Flat-Top, Metal-Embossed Truesdale Wall Trunk with Original Hardware

The Truesdale Trunk Co. designed this trunk so it can be placed against a wall or even at the foot of a bed and still open.

The unique top hinges allow the trunk to be opened straight up, so there is no need to pull the trunk away from the wall to open it. You’ll notice there are no rear hinges. This style trunk was also called a “space saver.” This beauty was originally painted two-tone gray and blue.

Outside

  1. This high-end trunk is very well made with all original hardware. The top has both narrow and wide hardwood slats.
  2. The lock lays nice and flat. The key is a little tricky to use, so I wouldn’t lock this beauty.
  3. The front has two wide slats while the back has three. All the slats are in great condition.
  4. The replacement leather handles are from brettunsvillage.com, while the shell design handle end caps are original.
  5. Since the top is flat, it offers a nice display surface.
  6. The hasps work great and are in great condition.
  7. The hardwood slats and body of the trunk are in wonderful condition.
  8. The beautiful embossed metal is identified as the Wild Rose Pattern.

Inside

  1. The inside offers a nice storage area.
  2. The manufacturer’s label is located on the inside lid. It reads: THE TRUESDALE PATENT TRUNK. Patented March 26, 1895. The lower portion says: Manufactured by J. Truesdale & Son, Manchester N.H.

General Information

The outside and inside have several coats of satin polyurethane for protection and have been hand-rubbed for added beauty. The finish is durable, so it’s safe to enjoy while the surface remains very soft to the touch.

This trunk measures 32 inches wide, 19 inches front to back, and 22 inches tall. This is sure to become a conversation piece plus a family keepsake to be handed down through future generations.

Our price includes insurance, packaging, and shipping to any of the 48 contiguous states. If you are west of the Mississippi, please add $50 to the cost of the trunk.
