Beautiful Flat Top Cabin Trunk with large Divided Tray and Working Lock & Key

This is a beautiful trunk! It can be used as a coffee table or simply a display trunk. It’s a perfect candidate for a glass top so the entire top can be used with ease and for added protection for the top for years to come. Cabin Trunks got their name because travelers could store these trunks in their cabins because of their size, which proved to be a welcomed convenience. This beautiful piece was crying for help when we started to work on it. The leather trim was so deteriorated from travel and age that we had to remove it all and replaced it with this pristine leather and decorative brass tacks. It took a long time to complete, but it was worth the effort! “WW. WINSHIP TRUNKS,” located on Elm Street in Boston, were known for their high-quality trunks. It’s so beautiful!

Outside

1. The flat top offers a great usable surface.
2. The hardwood slats are in great condition.
3. The large #4 waffle design hasps include built-in lifts, which take undue stress off the rear hinges.
4. The Brass lock works great and comes with a key. It’s etched EAGLE LOCK CO TERRYVILLE CT PAT.DEC 6 1892.
5. The heavy-duty wraparound corner hardware did a great job protecting the corners and edge during travel.
6. The front top and bottom edges are protected with protective hardware while the rear edge is protected with the help of the three large hinges.
7. The replacement leather handles are from Brettunsvillage.com.
8. We added removable legs so when used as a coffee table there is room for comfort. Adding legs doesn’t take away from the authenticity of the trunk; it simply adds versatility.

1. The large inside tray offers a great storage area.
2. The lid stay is original.

General Information

The inside and outside are finished with a Tung Oil mixture, satin polyurethane, waxed, and then buffed for added beauty. The finish is waterproof and durable, so it’s ready to enjoy.

This trunk measures 34 inches wide, 20.5 inches front to back, and 16.5 inches tall, as pictured (12 inches tall without the legs).
